2. PRINTING STYLES
Letterpress1. The name letterpress gives us a clue about how it works. It’s a type of relief printing that makes copies by impressing an inked, raised surface onto paper. With letterpress printing, you can feel the indent of the ink with your fingers. Letterpress is typically seen as more formal than digital printing.
|
EngravingEngraving is made by etching a design in reverse onto a copper or steel plate, depositing ink into the impressions, then pushing paper onto the template with a 3,000-pound weight. This creates raised lettering on the front of the card; you'll feel each character if you run your finger across the back. It is the most expensive form of printing.
